300 Word General Biography
Meg was born and raised in Gorleston-On-Sea, Norfolk, and began her musical journey at aged 11 when she began learning the flute with a local teacher. Due to the lack of music education available in her area, she was unaware of the career opportunities available for those interested in music. Through participating in her local county youth orchestra and auditioning for others in further away locations, she managed to change teachers at aged 15, to renowned professor Anna Noakes, who at the time was teaching at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Anna completely changed her perspective on music, and in 2014 Meg received a place to study for her undergraduate at Trinity Laban.
In September 2015, Meg embarked on the next stage in her musical journey at Trinity Laban. Through her undergraduate she learned a lot about her flute playing as well as her personality. She hit a lot of bumps during her degree, including Anna leaving the conservatoire and her brother passing away within the same month. However, through determination and a close cohort of friends and family, Meg turned her studies around and focused more than ever on finding her personality. She received a First Class Honors degree in 2019, after achieving a score of 84% for her final recital. Her performance was said by many to be the exact embodiment of her personality. She performed bare foot, with a programme on unusual programme pieces, taking a huge risk, which paid off, as her examiner admired her for her unique performance style and unapologetic embrace of her personality.
Now in the second year of her Master’s degree at Trinity Laban, Meg continues to learn more about herself, embracing every aspect of her being and encompassing it into her performances.
